You are a member of the jury for the BraunPrize - what made you take this job on?
It was a great privilege for me to be asked to participate in the jury for this internationally renowned competition. I think my experience from 13 years in technology and design at Braun are a solid basis on which to offer specialist advice from a technical point of view and to be able to judge from the point of view of design as well. I think it'll be incredibly exciting to find out what visions young people have for the products of the future, and what the global differences are between them.
For example, as project manager for the last BraunPrize I had the opportunity to meet Mai Felip, who was a jury member in 1999.
Meeting her gave me an insight into developments in Spanish design and allowed me to immerse myself in this culture and tradition. I now see Gaudi, Dali and many other Spanish artists, designers and architects in a different light. I am very much looking forward to working with the other jury members, and I am sure that this co-operation will continue beyond the jury work and will be profitable and effective.
From my experience of the last BraunPrize I know that the jury work will require the utmost concentration and attentiveness of all its members. Every single piece of work, especially in the second round, will be examined very thoroughly in order to make a fair judgement.
