  BraunPrize 1989
The DM 35,000 "BraunPrize for Technical Design" was presented at the "Institut für Neue Technische Form" in Darmstadt - the future home of the Hessen Design Centre - for the ninth time since 1968.

The Braun Prize attracted 375 entrants from 31 countries in 1989. The jury of the 9th BraunPrize awarded three second prizes of DM 5,000 each, three third prizes of DM 4,000 each and four special mention prizes of DM 2,000 each. The winning entries were a photo booth, a mobile washing unit for bedridden patients and a launderette with a built-in wastewater treatment plant. The third prizes went to a human-powered hydrofoil, a medical weighing system and a tennis-racket stringing machine.
